Poha pongal


Ingredients:

  • 2 cups thick beaten rice or poha 
  • 1cup moong dal 
  • 1inch ginger
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp. turmeric
  • Few cashew nuts
  • Curry leaves
  • Coriander leaves
Method:

  1. Pressure cook the moong dal with salt to taste. I cooked the moong dal in microwave so as to not overcook it.
  2. Soak the beaten rice for some time to soften. Drain the water completely and set aside.
  3. Saute cumin seeds,pepper,curry leaves and cashews in a pan. Add ginger and turmeric to it. Add both poha and moong dal and mix well.Adjust salt. Garnish with coriander leaves.
